Pennies for Peace is a service learning program through the Central Asia Institute that collects pennies to help build schools, mostly for girls, in underprivileged and impoverished nations such as Afghanistan and Pakistan.
For our service learning project we orchestrated a "Penny War" between teams, researched, collected, and created advertisements to persuade viewers to donate to this very worthy cause.

Below are four examples of my students' efforts to create a persuasive commercial. The first three use persuasive techniques that are generally recognized as effective, and the last uses persuasive techniques that may be effective but, well, you be the judge!
This one is funny, but we did talk about appropriate "persuasive techniques" after viewing this!
